Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 21, 2026
1. IP Address Collection & Geolocation
SNEEZE.LOG collects your location to provide a global heat map of sneezes. We prioritize the browser's Geolocation API, which requires your explicit permission. If you deny this permission, we fall back to an IP-based estimation to determine your Country and City.
Your full IP address is used only for this one-time lookup and is not stored in our persistent database. Only the resulting city and country names are saved alongside your log.
2. Third-Party API Usage
We use the following external services for location lookups:
- ipapi.co: To estimate location from your IP address.
- api.iplocation.net & api.ipify.org: Secondary fallback for country-level detection.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim): To convert coordinates into city names.
These services may receive your IP address to fulfill the request. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for more information.
3. Fuzzing & Anonymization
To protect your exact location, all coordinates are "fuzzed" by approximately 20-40km before being stored or displayed on the public map. We never store your precise latitude or longitude.
4. User Rights
You can opt-out of IP-based location lookups at any time when prompted. If you log in via Google, we store your user ID to manage your sneeze history, but we do not sell your personal data to third parties.
5. Data Retention
Sneeze logs are kept indefinitely to contribute to the global archive. You can contact us if you wish to have your specific logs removed (for authenticated users).
